It’s time for the citizens of Canton to get themselves a new Mayor City Council President.
Listen to this absurd rant.

Apparently it’s ok to have guns, but carrying them is insane.

Update: Bill thinks we should all wear “Cunning Hats” and have a protest.

  1. City Council President…

  2. @Patrick: Whoops. Thanks, I’ve corrected it.

  3. Holy crap. How oblivious can he be? That guy should run for the senate; he’d be a shoe-in. If I had a reason to be in a “crime-ridden” neighborhood at 1:30 in the morning, you can bet I’d be armed, carry permit or not.

  4. @Suz: He makes the obvious anti-gun mistake. He blames the gun, not the wielder. Gun owners have been getting this since the dawn of the anti-gun contingent.

He is doing something called “magical thinking.” Basically he’s saying that by carrying a gun, you are looking for trouble. By contrast, he seems to think that if you don’t carry a gun, you are avoiding trouble. The magical part of this whole stupid thought process is the belief on his part that he thinks that if you go out “avoiding” trouble, that trouble will avoid you.

You and I both know that trouble will find you wherever you are, so it’s best to be prepared for it when it shows up.

It also sounds like he thinks that people should stay home and surrender the streets to the bad people. Honest, decent people shouldn’t be in these areas, so basically he thinks that everyone in these areas is a bad person. If I lived in Canton, I’d try to rile up the people in those “bad” areas against this clown by showing them how he has written them off and doesn’t care about them. He’s basically said that they should hide in their houses, and let the criminals have the streets.

I hope that he suffers mightily at his next few City Council meetings.

  5. A couple hundred gun owners need to show up and take this asshat to task. They also need to give him a copy of the Constitution. I’ve read it a few times and I still haven’t found the “right to hunt” that the banners keep spouting.
