A grandmother was found dead in her home Friday in Columbus County. The accused?
A Brunswick County man is accused of killing his grandmother, whose body was found in her home nearly a week after she died, lawmen said.
(Suspect) grew up with his grandmother, who cared for him from an early age. He moved away in December.
(Suspect) has a criminal history dating to 1998, mostly for minor infractions such as possession of alcohol by a person younger than 21, according to the N.C. Department of Correction. He was convicted of breaking and entering in a 2000 case, assault on a female and damage to property in 2006, speeding to elude arrest in 2008, and being a felon in possession of a handgun in a 2009 case.
Pace, who was convicted of the handgun charge in March 2010, was serving a three-year probation term.
Maybe he should have been handed a jail term. People in jail don’t kill their grandmothers. Also, who slits the throat of their own grandmother?
