Who would have thought it? Drug syndicates smuggle drugs into Australia and use guns to defend their illicit business.
Police seized about 2500 ecstasy tablets, steroids, 2kg of powder, suspected to be drugs, $20,000 in cash and a cache of weapons – including an Uzi sub-machinegun, two sawn-off shotguns, three .22 calibre rifles, 9mm handgun, a bayonet, machete, butterfly knife, nunchucks and knuckle dusters – from seven Adelaide houses.
(For the ladies, Bonus Beefcake photo at link. Apparently Detective Sergeants in the Australian Federal Police are snappy dressers.)
So if Australia, which is an island (a REALLY BIG island, but an island none the less) can’t keep drug smugglers from having guns, including machine guns, what good did their gun control laws do?
Well, it disarmed the law abiding, leaving them helpless in the face of armed criminals.
