Another child claimed by gun violence

It’s a tragic tale. A 16-year-old, life full of promise, killed during a robbery attempt.

Hoke County authorities said Monday that they are investigating an attempted robbery at an Aberdeen furniture store in which one of the suspected robbers, a teenager, was killed in a struggle with the business owner.

Sheriff Hubert Peterkin said several people wearing masks entered All American Mattress and Furniture, at 9734 Aberdeen Road, at about 8:30 p.m. Friday, armed with a rifle and brass knuckles.

The owner, whose name wasn’t released, was able to disarm the robber with the rifle, and in doing so, shot and killed (Suspect 4), 16.

Somehow, though, my sympathy is limited. The invaded a store, beat the owner with brass knuckles, and in the struggle the owner took the rifle and shot one of them dead.

They captured two of the other suspects.

Suspect 2

Mommy thinks he was “coerced” somehow. I believe that birds of a feather flock together.

  1. I’m sure he was on his way to church and just stopped in for a loan.

Too bad he didn’t shoot all of them. The savings to the taxpayers would have been massive. The question I have is about civil suits. Can the mother sue the store owner? This is one of the things we have been working on here in Iowa.

  2. Robert: yes she can see you, but no she won’t win. Civil immunity was part of North Carolina’s recent castle bill. If she sues, when she loses she has to pay legal fees. Unfortunately there is no provision in the law for public flogging of any lawyer dumb enough to take that case.

  3. What kind of rifle? 🙂 A single-shot?
