Moms Demand goes RED QUEEN!

Oh, those wacky Moms running about Demanding things. Like this, for example.

Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America Pennsylvania Chapter is shocked and devastated to learn of the death of a two-month-old Lancaster County girl who was shot and killed by a family member who was negligently handling a handgun on Christmas Eve. No charges have yet been filed against the adult who shot and killed an infant.

Moms Demand Action is urging District Attorney Craig Stedman and local authorities to press charges immediately in this case. Mothers across the country are heartbroken about the loss of yet another child to preventable gun violence, and we expect an adult to be held accountable for such a negligent act.

No investigation. No discussion of whether or not it makes any sense to punish a person for what may have been a complete accident. Remind you of anyone?

‘Let the jury consider their verdict,’ the King said, for about the twentieth time that day.

‘No, no!’ said the Queen. ‘Sentence first — verdict afterwards.’

‘Stuff and nonsense!’ said Alice loudly. ‘The idea of having the sentence first!’

‘Hold your tongue!’ said the Queen, turning purple.

‘I won’t!’ said Alice.

‘Off with her head!’ the Queen shouted at the top of her voice.

Yep, those Moms are Demanding their own version of “Justice” which in their tiny minds means

In addition, we call on media reporting on this incident to use the words “criminally negligent” instead of “accidental.” Shooting and killing a human being due to an unsecured firearm should and must be considered more severe than an “accident.”

The gun haters at Moms Demand Action, a wholly owned subsidiary of Michael Bloomberg, Inc, want to transform gun ownership into a strict liability issue. The mere fact that you own a firearm means you are liable for ANYTHING that happens with the gun. Kid gets it and shoots himself? You go to jail. Someone steals it and commits a crime? You go to jail. And if we disagree with them in any way, off with our heads.

You see, they don’t want you to have a gun. If they can make it as legally dangerous as possible, you will choose to comply.

HT: Sipsey Street for reminding me of the concept.

  1. The funny thing is that in the gun world we never refer to these as accidents either- they are negligent discharge.

And the thing is there most likely already laws that could be used to prosecute these things. Usually though the death is enough punishment.

  2. Losing your own child is never enough for these Moms. They Demand the death penalty for the ThoughtCrime of owning a gun.

  3. You living in fairy tale land now. Just because citizens want laws enforced does not mean they will result in a conviction but their is no reason for communities NOT to expect prosecution of crimes. Aren’t you the one who wants the system to enforce the laws on the books? How is shooting a two month old an accident? It is a negligent discharge at the least. Many cities it is illegal discharge your weapon in the city, that could be one charge, in many locales it is child endangerment when handling a loaded weapon improperly around a child. Shooting of a child is never an accident, a child has no choice on the adults it is subjected to be around. Gun owners need to act responsibly and when they don’t they need to be held accountable for their irresponsible, neligent actions. How would you feel if someone did not prosecute a shooting of your child? Or are you the kind of guy who wants to cover up family actions even when someone dies, because they are family? I want our system to prosecute wrong doers.

  4. Sean so how do you think society should handle the parent who shakes their baby to death? since you just stated “Losing your own child is never enough” If some parent shakes their baby, or leaves it unattended and it dies,Is that punsihment enough for the parent of child to suffer. YOUR idea of justice is distorted if a negligent discharge into a belly of a two month old is okay! http://negligentdischarge.com/

  5. Yep, G Wyant, you want the system to “Prosecute,” not “investigate to determine if prosecution is warranted, appropriate, and in the best interest of justice.”

It’s because you hate gun owners and would like to make it as legally risky as possible. You don’t care about what the actual law says. You just want them jammed up as hard as possible. Because you love children. Or something.

  6. Apparently G Wyant doesn’t accept that there is a difference between Intentional and Unintentional. Sadly for him, the law regards these things as legally different. That’s why it’s murder to intentionally shake a baby to death, manslaughter to shake a baby hard enough that death occurs with no intention to kill and not a crime to crash your car unintentionally and in the process kill a child.

Does G Wyant want the police to investigate? To determine if the actions of the shooter meet the definition of negligence? No. He, like the Moms, Demands an immediate charge. Damn the evidence. Damn the consequences.

    Because G Wyant just KNOWS.

I, on the other hand, prefer to await a full investigation and a decision by the appropriate authorities. And then, if the shooter is charged, a decision on his/her guilt by a jury of his/her peers. Because I don’t go in for lynching.

  7. “YOUR idea of justice is distorted if a negligent discharge into a belly of a two month old is okay! ‘

Now show where Sean said that. Oh right, he didn’t, but you certainly need to believe he said it to justify your own personal hatred of anything ‘gun’.

The laws are already on the books for nearly all the crimes you could think of. They just don’t get investigated or prosecuted. Perfect example. Of the 75,000 cases forwarded on to the DOJ for criiminals attempting to purchase firearms, only about 75, that.s .1%, get prosecuted.

So the answer in your world? More laws.

Does that make sense? Yes or no. Those are the only two answers.

  8. As I posted elsewhere, that organization is not aptly named. It SHOULD be called “Women Who Demand You Cut Off Your Nuts Because They Say So”.

  9. Soon as Moms Demand learn the difference between prosecution and persecution it will be head explode time. Seems persecution is their preferred form of revenge as it certainly can’t be justice.

    Eck!
